작가 김대현(b.1980)은 서울 출신으로 홍익대학교 동양화과를 졸업했다. 2010년 '무나씨'라는 이름으로 본격적인 활동을 시작했으며, 평면 회화 작업 외에도 애니메이션, 오브제를 활용한 설치 등 다양한 표현의 시도를 하고 있다. 동시에 메종키츠네, 뉴욕타임즈, 아모레퍼시픽, 에르메스와 같은 브랜드들과의 협업을 거치는 등 국내외에서의 입지를 다지고 있는 중이다. 작가의 이름은 [無我(무아)] 라는 불교 용어에서 착안한 이름으로, 자기로부터 출발하는 생각들에서 벗어나고자 하는 의지를 담고 있다. 작가는 '먹'이라는 단순한 재료로 그림 속에서 타자와 관계하며 벌어지는 내면의 갈등, 감정, 생각들과 관계에 대한 깊은 성찰을 담아내고, 이번 전시를 통해 자신과 타자 사이의 미묘하고 모호한 영역에 대해 탐구하고 이를 그림으로 풀어내려 한다. Daehyun Kim (b.1980) born in Seoul, graduated from Hongik University with a major in Oriental Painting. He started his career as an artist in 2010 with the artist name ‘moonasi’. Other than his main medium, painting, he also experiments with various mediums from animation, found objects, and installation. Furthermore, he has collaborated with brands like Maison Kitsune, New York Times, Amore Pacific, Hermes among others as an international artist. His artist name ‘mooa’ (無我) comes from the Buddhist terminology as a will to avoid thoughts initiated by oneself. The artist uses simple Oriental ink as a medium, inscribing his in-depth introspection of the internal conflicts, emotions and thoughts amidst the relationship with others.
